Wildlife bosses are resorting to raising the water levels at a popular Staffordshire nature reserve to help threatened wetland birds.

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is putting in a number of adjustable sluices and weirs at Doxey Marshes near Stafford.

Experts believe it will help species under threat such as lapwing, snipe and redshank.

Working with JBA Consulting, the Trust is installing a number of water control structures around the site to help retain water on parts of the reserve.
