Woman dies after collapse in Wombourne

A woman has died after suffering a heart attack on a busy road in South Staffordshire.

The air ambulance was called to reports of a pedestrian who had collapsed near the junction of Common Road and Bridgnorth Road, Wombourne, shortly after 3pm yesterday.

The woman was quickly transferred across the road and into the awaiting helicopter, which had landed in a field, before she was airlifted to New Cross Hospital.

The woman died shortly after reaching the hospital.
