Britain's Got Talent sensation Jean Martyn today prepared for the biggest performance of her life with the man she describes as her "rock".
Her partner Bob Ware is constantly by her side – but he is under doctor's orders not to get too excited when Jean performs live in the final of the ITV show tomorrow.
The 70-year-old former financier, her partner for six years and now her manager, has been told stress could send his defibrillator – which monitors his heartbeat – into overdrive.
"I told him to keep calm during the semi-final the other night because I didn't want that thing exploding," joked 59-year-old Jean.
"He is supportive. He is the best friend I have ever had.
"He lifts me up when I am down, which is not very often now. It is Bob that puts this smile on my face. He is someone I know I can trust and I know he loves me very deeply. He is just wonderful."
The pair – both members of the Brewood and District Rotary Club – got together during a low ebb in their lives.
Bob lost his beloved wife Jenny to a heart attack and Jean was going through a harrowing divorce.
She played the organ at the memorial service and asked Bob if he would like to be her chaperone when she travelled to gigs.
"Our friendship blossomed and we have been together ever since," she said.
