A woman killed after her car collided with a bus carrying schoolchildren in West Bromwich was today named as mother-of-seven, Jacqueline Ottley, of Wednesbury.

Jacqueline, aged 42, was killed when her Mini and a number 428 bus carrying pupils from Wodensborough Technology Community College collided at around 3.50pm in Church Lane, on Wednesday.

Twelve people including schoolchildren, the bus driver and a pregnant woman were also hurt in the crash.

The bus was travelling in the opposite direction to West Bromwich Bus Station when the crash happened.

Some of the children were taken to hospital with cuts and bruises and Church Lane was sealed off between Byron Street and Ridgacre Road for almost five hours while police conducted investigations.

Pupils in the bus that crashed spoke of their shock after the accident. They described a huge bang with metal crumpling.

Police are investigating claims the Mini was overtaking before the accident happened. Anyone who witnessed the crash should contact the Collision Investigation Unit at Aston police station on 0345 113 5000.
