Walsall correspondent Nick Mashiter is preparing to run for charity – with a little help from the Saddlers.

He joined physio Jon Whitney and midfielder Richard Taundry for a work out as he trains for the Birmingham half marathon.

He is running for Walsall Hospice – the club's main sponsors – on Sunday, October 24 and was put through his paces at the Saddlers' Essington training ground.

Dispelling the myth footballers have it easy he experienced first-hand what the players go through during daily training.

Taundry is currently recovering from a knee injury and with training catered to aid his return Nick did his best to keep up with the Walsall ace.

The Hospice is moving into state of the art facilities next February on the site of the old Goscote Hospital but can always be given a little extra boost.
