A mother of three who kept bullets and nearly £10,000 of criminal's cash hidden at her Wolverhampton home was today starting an 18-month jail sentence.

Candace Williams also had a bullet-proof vest and balaclava hood in a wardrobe at the property when it was raided by police, Birmingham Crown Court heard.

Officers swooped shortly after a package holding £9,800 worth of bank notes was delivered to the address in Alton Close, Bushbury.

A search revealed the vest, hood and ammunition.

There were 24 9mm rounds and two more bullets that had been specially modified prosecutor Mr Graham Henson said yesterday.

Williams was convicted of possession of the ammunition and the criminal's cash after a trial in August.

Jurors acquitted her of possession of a loaded .38 Smith and Wesson revolver discovered in the search.

Bullets found in the wardrobe could not have been used in this gun.

Williams, now of Squires Grove, New Invention, Willenhall had denied knowing about any of the property.

Mr Ian Strongman, defending, said: "She was being used and put upon by a man rather knowingly and willingly participating in the enterprise. She did not stand to gain anything."
