The funeral service for former Express & Star editor and managing director Keith Parker will take place next week.

It will be held at St Michael & All Angels in Church Road, Tettenhall, Wolverhampton, on Wednesday at 2pm.

It will be followed by committal at Telford Crematorium at 4.15pm.

Mr Parker, who also served as editor and managing director of the Express & Star's sister newspaper the Shropshire Star, died on Saturday after a battle against cancer. He was 69.

He was a highly respected figure in British newspapers and was awarded an OBE in the 1993 Queen's Birthday Honours in recognition of his services to journalism.

Mr Parker, of Wrottesley Road, Tettenhall, leaves a widow, Bobbie, and a son Nicholas.

There will be family flowers only at the funeral, but donations to Compton Hospice can be made c/o Harry Edwards & Sons, Funeral Directors, 1 High Street, Wellington, TF1 1JW.

Family and friends will gather at Park House Hotel, Shifnal, after the funeral from around 4:30pm.
