A 70-year-old woman who died from head injuries in a house in Smethwick has been named locally as Niarajan Kaur Randhawa.

A 70-year-old woman who died from head injuries in a house in Smethwick has been named locally as Niarajan Kaur Randhawa.

A man remains under arrest on suspicion of her murder.

According to neighbours Mrs Randhawa lived at the house with her husband Harminder Singh Randhawa.

The couple were said to have three children, two sons and a daughter. CID officers were talking to family members last night.

Pensioner Mrs Randhawa died at home yesterday morning. She had suffered serious head injuries.

Her body was taken from the house yesterday afternoon and a postmortem is due this morning. A police cordon remains around the house as inquiries continue.

Flowers were laid outside the semi-detched home on Thimblemill Road yesterday evening from neighbours.
