A schoolgirl was injured in an accident at a funfair in the Black Country.

The 14-year-old was taken to hospital after the bumper car struck her foot at the Pat Collins Funfair at Brunswick Park, Wednesbury. Paramedics were called to the fair in Brunswick Park Road shortly after 7.15 last night.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Claire Thomas said today: "Crews arrived to find a teenage girl, who was injured, next to a bumper car ride in a funfair.

"The girl, believed to be 14 years old, suffered an injury to her foot after a bumper car reportedly made contact with her foot. Crews treated the girl at the scene before she was taken by land ambulance to Sandwell General Hospital for further assessment and treatment."

The Walsall-based funfair is due to end its 10-day run at the park this weekend.
