A grassed area outside a Black Country health centre was cordoned off by police after allegations of an assault.
Officers sealed off the section in front of the Oakeswell Health Centre in the early hours of Saturday after reports of an attack on a woman in her 20s.
Police were called to the corner of Brunswick Park Road and Hydes Road at just before 3am. They remained at the scene until 10.30am while a forensic team searched the area.
Neighbours said they were shocked to see the centre sealed off.
One resident, who asked not to be named, said: "I looked outside my house at midnight and I saw nothing then when I looked again about 9am in the morning there was police tape.
"I have not been told what has gone on but you don't expect to see this near to your home."
Jaspreet Jagdev, spokeswoman for West Midlands Police, said inquiries were continuing.
"Police were called before 3am to Brunswick Park Road on Saturday following reports of an assault on a woman in her 20s," she said.
"She received minor injuries only. Police inquiries are continuing." Anyone with information should call police at West Bromwich on 0845 113 5000.
