A health spa could be built on farmland in the heart of the Wyre Forest.

The owners of Sugars Farm, at Rock, aim to create a retreat offering relaxation, yoga and dance therapy as well as overnight accommodation in 10 chalets.

If it is given the go ahead by planners at Wyre Forest District Council, the spa would employ four full-time and four part-time workers.

Pony trekking, two fishing pools and a swimming pool are already in operation.

Existing farm buildings would be converted into the therapy centre and the chalets would be built in a conifer wood.

The units will be constructed of natural materials, timber walls, door and window frames and the roofs covered with cedar shingles to blend the development into the forest environment.

There will be no vehicular access to the units. Customers will leave their vehicles in the car park by the centre and walk through the woodland to their chalets.

A consultation period will run until August 24 and the plans will be considered by the council's planning committee.

Work has started on a new £600,000 community visitor centre on the Forestry Commission estate in the Wyre Forest. The new Gateway to Wyre Community Discovery Centre is at Callow Hill.
