A group of around 12 youngsters were seen pushing the wall over on Friday night, leaving a huge gap on the embankment on Pound Road.

It is the latest in a series of vandal attacks in Wednesbury, and local residents are calling for action to put an end to the thugs' reign of chaos.

Worried resident Olwen Jones, said: "I think we need some sort of residents' group to be set up because something really needs to be done. The thing is its such a regular occurrence that people have stopped reporting it to the police and that means they don't have a true picture of what's going on, so they will never address it properly."

The embankment borders an alleyway off Pound Road which is a popular walkway for youngsters going to Mesty Croft Primary School.

There is now an easy access way down the slope onto the dangerous railway line below.

Mrs Jones, aged 56, a grandmother of three, added: "It's very dangerous. I hate to think of any children going down there."
