A telephone scam to fish for bank details may be operating in the Wyre Forest.

Officers are investigating several calls from residents saying they had been contacted by a company claiming they could recover their bank charges for them.

They were then asked for their bank details.

Julie Wedgbury, for West Mercia Police, said: "We are concerned at how many reports of this nature we are receiving and we would repeat our advice not to give out personal or bank details, whether it's a request over the phone, by email or by letter.

"While we cannot be sure at this stage whether the company is operating legitimately," she added.
