Call for inquiry at Stafford Hospital
Cannock MP Tony Wright has responded to his critics by calling for an inquiry into Stafford Hospital – but not the public inquiry demanded by campaigners.

Dr Wright, who abstained from a crucial vote in the House of Commons on Monday night, issued a statement yesterday after Cure the NHS founder Julie Bailey condemned him for not supporting the vote.
He has written to Health Secretary Alan Johnson to ask for an independent inquiry by someone "of unimpeachable authority and independence" to focus on the lessons at Stafford Hospital for the wider NHS.
The Labour MP said: "I am doubtful about the utility of a formal public inquiry that goes over the same ground as the Healthcare Commission report, when the priority should be to fix the problems at the hospital.
Julie Bailey, of Cure the NHS, said: "Why does he not want a public inquiry? Why did he not vote for what his constituents want?"
