Beauty spot blooms thanks to showers

Everything is blooming lovely at a Midlands beauty spot where recent rainstorms have helped bring out the blooms, including a spectacular Laburnum Arch.

The 150-foot long Laburnum Tunnel is the most stunning it has been for years, according to manager James Binnian.

Staff have been busy getting the gardens at Bodenham Arboretum near Kidderminster into shape for the forthcoming summer season, which is the busiest time of the year for the attraction.

Visitors can also enjoy gazing at shrubs and plants including the rhododendrons and azaleas which create a rainbow of colour. The tranquillity of the gardens and woodland also provide a pastoral scene with sheep grazing contentedly in some areas.

Mr Binnian said: "We needed the recent rain and it looks like having those showers has meant we will have spectacular displays this year.

"The tunnel looks amazing and is better than ever. We get people from all over the Midlands and even further afield coming to have a look at it.

"It really is a marvellous sight and is now at its most spectacular."

Bodenham is an area of outstanding landscape beauty and its 134 acres contain mature woodland, specimen trees and shrubs as well as pools and lakes.

It was created by the Binnian family who took 30 years to establish their dream.

The 134-acre Arboretum boasts about 2,600 species of trees and shrubs from around the world and contains pools and lakes as well as being centres around a working farm.
