A new treatment room is being created at Kidderminster Hospital's Intermediate Care Unit to help reduce the need for examinations on the wards.

The move follows an announcement by Health Secretary Alan Johnson that £100 million has been earmarked nationwide to help improve privacy and dignity for patients.

Funding totalling £310,000 is being handed to Worcestershire Primary Care Trust for the new treatment room. It will also be used to pay for single sex bathroom facilities in all patient areas of the county's six community hospitals.
