A man died in a horrific crash on the M6 which saw the motorway closed off for almost eight hours.
The man was a passenger in a car which collided with a lorry near Stafford at around 2.30am yesterday.
Another male passenger in the car suffered serious facial injuries.
The accident took place on the southbound carriageway of the M6 between junctions 13 and 14 at Stafford. The carriageway was closed off until almost 10.30am and the northbound until 7.30am.
A spokeswoman for Central Motorway Policing Group said the wait in reopening the carriageway was partly due to a delay in finding specialist officers over the bank holiday.
