A man has died after falling from a ladder while working at a house under construction in Kidderminster. He was in cardiac arrest when 999 crews arrived.
Police and paramedics were called to Greatfield Road yesterday to find the man, who has not been identified, lying on the ground.
He was airlifted to Birmingham's Selly Oak Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The man is believed to have been working at a house being built in the street when the accident happened yesterday morning.
The cause of his fall is not yet known and West Mercia Police today confirmed the Health and Safety Executive was now investigating .
Paramedics said he had fallen from the ladder.
Residents living in the street said they were shocked to hear what had happened and the sight of the air ambulance helicopter landing near homes.
Greatfield Road resident Chris Middleton said the air ambulance hovered over homes before setting down near flats in Carter Avenue.
"The helicopter was at the scene for around half-an-hour," he said. "I heard ambulance sirens and police dashed up to the top of the road and soon brought a man back down to where the air ambulance was."
