Family sees red on plan after accidents
Plans to install a controversial red route on a busy Black Country road should be scrapped and safety measures introduced to stop car accidents, a family have said.

Miss Jagjeet Bajway, who lives with her mother on the A4031 All Saints Way in West Bromwich spoke out just days after a driver ploughed into their garden wall for the third time in 11 years.
The 39-year-old now wants the congestion-busting scheme to be shelved and traffic calming measures such as traffic lights and speed cameras introduced instead.
She fears someone could be killed if action is not taken to slow traffic down.
On Saturday a driver in his 20s walked away unharmed after his BMW ploughed into the garden wall of the house which sits on the junction with Lyndon, near to Sandwell Hospital.
Miss Bajway says there are frequently accidents at the junction when drivers negotiate four lanes of traffic to cross the dual carriageway.
She said: "They are going to put the red route down here.
"What is the red route going to do to stop accidents like this from happening?"
Her wall was first damaged in September 1998 after a motorist fell asleep at the wheel and drove into it. Then a year later a car crashed into the wall before driving off.
The latest crash was on Saturday at 4pm.
Miss Bajway, added: "Nobody pays any notice when they come out of Lyndon and turn right in the direction of Walsall and they just pull out and go straight into another vehicle."
Jagjeet and her mother Satbinder Bajway, aged 67, a part-time carer would now like speed cameras after the Lyndon junction installed. They would also like a traffic lights system put in place for motorists turning right on to All Saints Way.
She added: "We want traffic lights put down here. There is no need for the red route because it is only going to cause more of this trouble.
"At night people use this as a racing track and we don't want it to be used as a racing track. The red route will not stop people racing around here."
Last week a petition with over 600 signatures against the red route was handed in to West Bromwich Town Committee.
A decision on the scheme is expected later this month.
