New home hunt for abandoned kittens

James and Jessica, two cute and cuddly tabby kittens, are homeless after a heartless owner packed them in a cardboard box and dumped them on the back doorstep of a house in Bewdley.

They were discovered by a resident of Lodge Close, who has not been named but who found the box containing the kittens on their back doorstep on Monday at about 7pm.

Sally Tarpey, an animal collection officer with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, said: "These beautiful tabby kittens were very frightened but were otherwise healthy.

"They have now been taken into the care of the RSPCA at Gonsal Farm Animal Centre in Shropshire where they have been named James and Jessica by staff.

"The kittens are very timid which is no wonder considering what they have been through. They could be the result of an unwanted pregnancy, as is too often the case, and that is why we would urge all cat owners to have their pet neutered.

"We would also warn that it is a criminal offence to abandon an animal in a manner likely to cause suffering and we would urge anyone considering such drastic action to seek urgent help."
