Severn Valley Railway is planning to branch out from its Kidderminster to Bridgnorth service with a special steam-hauled trip to Lincoln.
It has been years since the railway ran main-line steam excursions under its own banner and only once in the last 15 years had Bridgnorth been a starting point for a long-distance trip.
But the visit to Lincoln has been arranged in March through a link-up with established charter train operator The Railway Touring Co.
The day excursion on March 14 will start from Bridgnorth at 7.15am with stops for passengers at Bewdley, Kidderminster and Stourbridge Junction before the LNER A4 Pacific No 60007 tackles the stiff climb of Old Hall Bank on its way into Birmingham and on to Lincoln.
