A worker who was claims she was sacked from an animal charity shop in Stourport-on-Severn has been awarded £659 in unpaid wages.

Linda Owens of Lickhill, Stourport, was also awarded £233 holiday pay at Birmingham Employment Tribunal against SOS Animal Charity Shop Stourport-on-Severn.

The brief hearing was told Mrs Owens was sacked following a dispute after five months at the premises.

She was not permitted to make a claim for unfair dismissal because she had not qualified under the 12-months employment period.

The employers were accused of making excuses for not paying outstanding wages. Mrs Owens also alleged she was paid below the national minimum wage and complained she did not receive pay slips.

The employers did not attend the hearing.

Tribunal chairman Philip Rostant told Mrs Owens she could make an official complaint to the relevant authorities over being paid the national minimum wage.
