One man was killed and another seriously injured in a horrific crash at a notorious accident blackspot near Kidderminster.
The crash involved a white Rover 45 being driven along the A442 towards Kidderminster and a Vauxhall Vectra, which burst into flames following the impact.
It happened at about 11.45am yesterday near the Wolverley turn.
The front seat passenger in the Rover, a man from the Wyre Forest area, was certified dead at the scene. The driver, who suffered chest and back injuries, was cut free by fire crews and airlifted to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham.
The woman driver of the Vectra and a man in the front passenger seat, both from the Stourbridge area, were treated for shock by paramedics at the scene.
Fire crews from Kidderminster spent two hours cutting the passenger free from the wreckage of the Rover and dealing with the blaze in the Vectra.
The A442 between Kidderminster and Shatterford was closed for three hours while police dealt with the accident.
Witness Mike Fowler, aged 56, who had been travelling to Kidderminster from his home in High Town, Bridgnorth, said: "It is a very dangerous road. I have lost count of how many accidents there have been. It is a terrible shame that someone else has died on that road."
Witnesses are asked to call 08457 444888.
