US Democrat presidential hopeful Barack Obama met with Prime Minister Gordon Brown after flying into London.
Mr Obama earlier met former Prime Minister Tony Blair. He is also due to meet the Conservative leader David Cameron.
The Democratic presidential candidate is on the final part of the European leg of his world tour.
He has already visited Germany, where he gave a keynote foreign policy speech in Berlin, and France where he met President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Mr Obama was greeted in the UK by the American ambassador and his wife, Robert and Maria Tuttle, before being taken to a central London hotel.
In contrast to the public reception he received in Paris and Berlin - where he addressed an estimated crowd of 200,000 people - Mr Obama's London visit is being kept low key.
