Station may get new park and ride site

A yard in Blakedown is due to be transformed into a station park and ride to help stop the "appalling" parking problem caused by commuters avoiding paying for parking at nearby Kidderminster Station.
Residents say the parking problem at Station Drive in Blakedown started to worsen when people started using Blakedown rather than Kidderminster three miles away.
This meant they dumped their cars on residential streets, sometimes blocking driveways.
A plan has now been submitted by Hingley and Callow Ltd to change their yard near the station, between Lynwood Drive and the railway line, into a 34-space car park.
The parking charges proposed are £1.50 per day, £5 a week, £15 a month or £150 per year.
Blakedown and Churchill Parish Council is backing the scheme but they say the scheme should not be passed until new traffic restrictions are put in place to stop people trying to park for free.
Some residents are objecting to the scheme as they say things will not improve as commuters will still try and get out of paying and continue parking on the streets.
