Molineux winger Daniel Jones is ready to quit Wolves and make his move to Northampton permanent.
The 20-year-old has found himself on the fringe of Mick McCarthy's plans and today declared himself keen to leave Molineux for regular first-team football.
Midfielder Jones is at Sixfields until January and his form has been impressive for Stuart Gray's League One hopefuls.
And he admits he is happier with the Cobblers than he has ever been since turning professional at Wolves.
"This is the most I've enjoyed my football since I started playing the game," said Jones.
"I'm really enjoying it here, I'd love to stay because it's a great place. If the opportunity came to sign for Northampton then I definitely would.
"It's a great club and hopefully it will come down to me being offered the chance to stay."
Jones made nine appearances for Wolves last season but McCarthy made it clear that he was not part of his first-team plans when he offered him the chance to drop down a division before the season started.
The naturally left-footed Jones was allowed to leave despite injuries to Matt Jarvis and Lewis Gobern and the sale of Michael McIndoe.
Converted striker Stephen Ward has been preferred in the Championship so far.
"I'd never say no to a move here, I'm just really enjoying my football at the moment," he said.
"My long-term ambition is to play at Championship level, of course, but why can't I get that with Northampton?"
Matt Jarvis and Lewis Gobern will make their long-awaited returns to action tonight in Wolves' Birmingham Senior Cup clash at Nuneaton Borough (7.45pm KO).
Team: Lumley, E. Bennett, Malone, Salmon, Little, Batth, Gobern, Gleeson, Hughes, Rosa, Jarvis.
Subs: Ijaha, Woolley, J. Davis, K. Bennett, D. Davis.
