Teenage tragedy rider named

A teenage motorcyclist killed after an accident at Dudley's Merry Hill Centre has today been named as former Cradley High student Andy Green.

Tributes have been paid to the 17-year-old who died when he lost control of his bike along Station Drive near to McDonald's on May 18.

Best pal Tom Burchell said Mr Green was "the life and soul" of his college group of friends and staff at his old school said the basketball player, who was in last year's year 11 group, always had a smile for everybody.

In a tribute posted on the Express & Star website Tom Burchell said: "We were the best of friends, nobody could ever have wanted a greater friend.

"Andy was the most caring and genuine chap I have ever met. My deepest thoughts are with his family."

Cradley High head teacher Toni Fowler said: "The whole school is saddened to hear news of this tragedy."

Police are keen to trace a number of witnesses who were at the scene – call the road policing unit at Brierley Hill on 0845 113 5000.
