Plea for Aquarius news

People are demanding to know more about who is lined up to take over Hednesford's boarded-up Aquarius ballroom after seeing little visible progress in getting it re-opened.

Bosses at Cannock Chase District Council, which owns the venue, said the lease was due to be signed yesterday by Giraffe Leisure Ltd which is in line to take it on. But a spokeswoman for the district council today revealed it had not happened but could not give further details of the reason.

People in the town are now demanding to know what is going on and want to be told more about the people who will be at the helm of the venue in Victoria Street as only very limited information has been released to date.Hednesford Councillor Ron Turville said: "I've officially asked for the chief executive of the council to keep me up to date but I've heard nothing.

"People in Hednesford want to know who these people are. All we've been given is the name of this company and it's not enough. This has dragged on and on and I'm not happy with how it has been handled at all.

"People deserve to know who these people are, what they have planned and when the Aquarius will be open again."
