More than 40 tower blocks in Sandwell are in line for a facelift as part of a multi-million pound programme.
Housing officials are looking to improve the outside and communal space of 44 high-rise blocks in the borough.
It is part of sweeping modernisation plans to improve the look of the blocks, which are often described as ugly.
Sandwell Homes is behind the plans which will see the blocks renovated over the next few months.
Astbury Court and Lawrence Court at Brandhall, Oldbury, will be done over 52 weeks, followed by Thompson Gardens, Smethwick, over a 65 week programme.
Allen House, Hamstead, is to be renovated over a 26 week programme.
Brian Oakley, chief executive of Sandwell Homes, said: "This partnership will deliver major improvements to the homes of thousands of people in Sandwell which will improve not only their living conditions but their quality of life.
"I am delighted we have secured a partnership arrangement with such major and reputable companies."
The scheme is being carried out by the Sandwell High Rise Partnership, made up of representatives from Sandwell Council's Urban Design, Connaught Partnerships Ltd, Lovell, Thomas Vale Construction, and Bucknall Austin.
The partners put pen to paper on a deal today which will see the blocks renovated and improved by teams of developers.
Residents and tenants are being asked for their ideas and opinions on the project. It will include roof improvements, replacement windows, new enlarged bin chutes, new doors, lift refurbishment, external cladding, balcony and fire and safety improvements as well as redecoration of communal areas, installing digital aerials and new entry systems.
