The 4 SUV will sit alongside the standard coupe model when it goes on sale in September.

Polestar has announced that the popular 4 electric coupe will receive a new family-friendly SUV bodystyle.

The Polestar 4 was launched in 2024 as an electric coupe-esque SUV and stood out for being one of the first production cars not to feature a rear window.

Details on the 4 SUV are limited at this stage, though it will feature a taller roofline than the coupe, flush door handles and roof rails.

There are no images on the car’s interior, but the Swedish manufacturer says ‘this new variant offers an added layer of flexibility and practicality, with versatile storage capabilities.’

In terms of powertrains, the 4 SUV will come with the same electric setups found in the coupe model, which means there will be a single motor model that will be capable of up to 391 miles on a single charge, and a dual-motor option that produces 536bhp.

The Polestar 4 SUV will be produced at the firm’s plant in Busan, Korea, and will be a rival to the Tesla Model Y and Porsche Macan Electric.

Orders for the Polestar 4 SUV will open on September 2 with further details on the car’s design, specifications and prices to be revealed in due course.
