West Midlands wedding pianist explains how she plays her part making priceless memories - and why Spotify can't compete
There is no instrument more beautiful than the piano for events pianist Christa Hugo, who loves sharing music and making memorable moments even more special.
Classically trained Christa, who lives in Bewdley, works as a wedding and events pianist.
“Playing the piano is my absolute favourite thing to do. People often say to me ‘does it become more like a chore when you work in music, is it less fun?’.
“But, honestly, I can’t think of anything I’d rather do than sit down at the piano so it’s the perfect vocation for me,” she says.

Christa started to learn the piano when she was nine years old. “I obviously got on really well with it because only three years later I was asked to become the pianist for a local ballet school. That was my first proper job and I did that every weekend all the way through school up until I went to university.”
Since then Christa has continued to work in music in one form or another. After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Music, she gained a PGCE in Secondary Music and started her career as a music teacher. She later became a professional ballet pianist and spent eight years working at Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham.
“Then I started up some choirs and I was running choirs four nights a week for many years which I loved and I’ve also worked, and I still do work, as a music examiner with Trinity College London,” explains Christa.
