Back in the city, cultural events linked to the Wolverhampton Literature Festival are taking place throughout February, with creative workshops and talks suitable for young people and families.

Over in Dudley, the Black Country Living Museum is hosting half term family activities that bring local history to life. Children can take part in hands-on sessions, explore historic streets and enjoy traditional entertainment, making it a popular option for an educational day out.

Sandwell is offering a strong programme of free and low-cost activities, particularly through its libraries and community venues. Great Barr Library is hosting a family magic show, while craft sessions, storytelling events and family film screenings are taking place across West Bromwich, Wednesbury and surrounding areas. Many of the sessions are aimed at younger children and are ideal for parents looking for indoor activities during colder weather.

In Walsall, the New Art Gallery is running free half term creative workshops and drop-in sessions for families, ranging from early-years activities to crafts for older children. Later in the week, Lunar New Year celebrations will bring colour and culture to the town on February 21, with lion dancing, lantern making and storytelling events planned.

Families can head outdoors to Staffordshire attractions such as Lower Drayton Farm, which is opening its seasonal activities during half term, including animal encounters and indoor and outdoor play areas. The Severn Valley Railway is also running themed steam train experiences on selected dates, offering a memorable trip for children and adults alike.

These local activities provide accessible entertainment close to home, particularly for families staying local during the school break.

Activities continue over at Cadbury World, where Freddo’s Circus leaps into action. The 15-minute live show brings big laughs and circus flair, unlocking entry to the full Cadbury World experience. From the 4D Chocolate Adventure and Cadbury Chocolate Quest Ride to the Have-a-Go zone, the Bournville Experience and live cocoa demonstrations, it’s every chocolate lover’s dream this half term. Freddo’s Circus runs from February 14 to 22.

With a mix of outdoor attractions, cultural venues and community-based events, the February half term offers something for all ages across the region. Families are advised to check individual venues for times and booking details, as some activities may require advance registration.
