I visited a popular takeaway in Wolverhampton to see if its new spicy sauce lived up to the name

It's a sauce which the chain that made it claims to be the hottest yet, bringing an extra zing to a quality kebab.

German Doner Kebab (GDK) has been making a name for itself as the place to go for quality food, with its kebabs providing a hot, tasty and welcoming meal and a nice change to the saturated kebab market.

With a wide range of beef and chicken kebabs, served either in the signature waffle bread or as a wrap, burrito or quesadilla, as well as in boxes and bowls and as a burger, the GDK range has become very popular with foodies, with stores in Wolverhampton, Walsall, Merry Hill and West Bromwich.

The chain is continually looking to update its menu, from the main meals to the side orders and the sauces, and produce items which make people want to come in and enjoy something different.

To this end, GDK have added to their extensive list of sauces, which include yogurt, garlic and spicy by creating what the chain said is its spiciest sauce ever, a limited-edition Inferno sauce made from ghost chillies, the fourth hottest chilli in the world which measures in at between 855,000 and just over one million on the Scoville Scale.

It's being touted as a real test for any true spice head so, of course, I felt like it was worth a try to see just how spicy it is, being someone who enjoys a bit of spice and has about 14 bottles of hot sauce at home.

Living in Wolverhampton, the GDK restaurant on Queen Street was the setting for my visit to try the sauce and the kebab. I've eaten enough lamb and chicken kebabs in the past to know when I'm tasting quality or something that just fills a gap, so I was also interested to see what makes GDK different.
