Inside the new Birmingham neighbourhood pub Kennedy’s Bar in Moseley Village following packed out launch weekend

Kennedy’s Bar, the newest neighbourhood pub in Birmingham’s lively Moseley Village, has officially opened its doors — and the community turned out in full force to celebrate its launch last weekend. 

The venue enjoyed a buzzing two-day opening filled with good food, live music, and a warm reception from locals eager to welcome a new independent to the village.

Guests praised the venue’s renewed yet relaxed interior, the friendly team, and a menu that struck the right balance between comfort classics and modern twists. 

Early favourites included the stacked Lownsonford Pie and Mash, the small-plates sharers, and the indulgent house brownies, while the drinks list, with many from local independent breweries — proved to be a hit from the moment doors opened.

Across the weekend, live acoustic performances set the tone, creating a lively but laid-back atmosphere that kept the venue busy from lunchtime through late evening. 

Many visitors commented on Kennedy’s instantly becoming “a place Moseley has been waiting for” — a welcoming blend of quality, community, and character.

The team behind Kennedy’s said they were overwhelmed by the turnout and the positive feedback.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better launch,” said Gary McDonnell, Joint Owner at Kennedy’s. “Moseley is known for its creative, independent spirit, and we’re thrilled that people felt at home with us straight away. The response has been incredible, and we can’t wait to build on this energy as we settle into the neighbourhood.”

Kennedy’s will now be open seven days a week, offering lunch, small plates, sharing boards, cocktails, wines, and locally sourced drinks from Birmingham independents. Weekly events — including live music nights and Sunday quizzes — have already begun and they are looking forward to a big week of sports ahead with a full complement of live Premier League football games.
