Amusement 13 brings some of grime's elite to play in the second city for a night of Butterz Records. Head honchos Ellijah and Skilliam are on hand to deliver some of the murkiest grime instrumentals around and they've got Swindle and Murlo with them for good measure. The London sound comes to Birmingham.

Over at Rainbow, Cirque Du Soul returns for their only show this season with the eclectic sounds of Goldfish, a funky fusion of live saxophone, electronic double bass and strings, these guys create an earth shattering live electric sound.

Support comes in the form of new kids on the block Star One, widely acclaimed for their masterfully produced variety of bass music, they're definitely ones to watch.

As usual, Rainbow's expansive space is hosting a double bill of events and the other side of the coin is Shadow City who this week unleash Denis Sulta for the Birmingham leg of the Scotsman's Sulta Selects night. For this instalment Marquis Hawkes (pictured) takes the helm alongside him to deliver a house, jazz, soul, hip-hop, funk and disco maelstrom that dares you not to dance!

Moving onto Saturday and PST holds the weekend's drum and bass offering with Nu Breed Recordings unleashing the might of Bladerunner and Cabin fever onto the Birmingham scene. Both powerhouses in their own right, Bladerunner's experience on a flurry of labels means there's no doubt he can deliver the goods while Cabin Fever's credentials include a long history in the scene and the management of Natty Dub recordings.

Finally, back at Amusement 13 Claude Vonstroke brings his European tour to a Brummie crowd. Strictly house music is the vibe and the lineup includes Marc Spence, Pete Graham and Brandon Ross as well as the Dirtybird boss himself. This one should keep you shuffling until the early hours.

Slim pickings this weekend, but very much a matter of quality over quantity which is never a bad thing!
