, as very uncharacteristically of me (I'm sure many of you will disagree!), I got my dates mixed up and it's actually this weekend I head to Singapore!

It's Chinese New Year and a bank holiday for that part of the world so it makes sense really! I perform at the world famous Pangaea which has a series of stunning nightspots around the world and are built and designed by Michael Ault who's one of leading nightclub operators of today.

He's renowned for inventing the bottle service and bringing it to the forefront of today's club culture – although he's recently stated it's been destroyed and used as a "tool to rip people off and greed and excess can destroy everything". Wise words Mr Ault.

So with my unexpected weekend off I obviously took myself out and about on Saturday night – for market research purposes of course!

Firstly I headed to The Crown in Wergs, Wolverhampton, that was its usual busy, affluent self and holds a great atmosphere. But you do sense that this crowd will always want to move on though and at present, it has very few options. Who knows, if Uberra in Wolverhampton city centre pick up their pace then they could well fill this gap in the market.

From there I headed into Birmingham and headed into the Arcadian and Sobar, which I haven't done for an age. You notice a few changes like a small door charge and there's an option if you're in the know to get a stamp for the Kaijo lounge upstairs, which plays the very best in urban sounds. Downstairs the music policy has diversified somewhat from its house roots to where Kris Shaw fires out an eclectic mix of everything that will make you move – and a great job he does of it too!

Then it was on to Mechu. That was definitely the busiest of the mid-time Saturday night venues and I feel their policy of being very tight on the door but free entry resonates with the masses. Cocktails and bottle service keeps this a fave with the second city's elite.

I finally ended up at Bushwackers where the effervescent Dr Love kept the tunes flowing until the early morning and it was safe to say I was ready for bed! Hope this helps you when you're weighing up your Saturday night options!

If you're heading out tonight check out Fidget Vs Devils Playground at The Cellar Door in Birmingham.

Being January they've lowered their door price to a very respectable £3 before midnight and maintained a stellar line up including De Contrebande, Davey Boy, Omey & Orme and Paul Carty.

If you fancy a road trip then Balearic at Seven in Coventry could be well worth a shout. Kim Fai is headlining who has supported and toured the globe with the likes of The Swedish House Mafia and will no doubt bring his big room sound to rock the place.

Moving into Saturday and staying in Coventry they have the mighty Claude Van Stroke at Careys who are determined and succeeding in bringing house music's elite to the city.

Oceana in Wolverhampton continue on the 2012 assault with Pink as their new Saturday night where it's two-for-one drinks all night and all the usual fun and games!

Keep a look out for The Post House in Stafford which is a stunning new club/cocktail bar and restaurant with a multi-million pound facade. An influx of PR and promotions means that this one could well turn a few heads in the coming weeks.

Have a great weekend guys – see you on the other side!
