Two years ago the company in Guns Lane was asked to produce the four biggest hydraulic nuts it had ever made for a major forging press refurbishment project in Houston,Texas.

The contractwas completed and delivered on time and on budget.

The quality of the work carried out by Tentec's innovative in-house design and production team has resulted in a repeat order for the same company.

The hydraulic nuts required for the forging press had 25in buttress thread forms and each hydraulic nut weighed four tonnes with an 8,000 tonne bolt load capacity.

Hydraulic nuts are a permanent form of bolt tensioning where the hydraulic nut replaces the conventional hexagon or round nut.

With application of hydraulic pressure to the hydraulic nuts, bolt load is generated effortlessly and the user needs only to insert easily fitted shims to retain the bolt load.

The hydraulic pressure is then released and an accurate bolt load is retained.

"We are delighted to have received a repeat order for these hydraulic nuts." said Tentec engineering director Paul Egginton. "The original order was a real challenge but our whole team pulled together and delivered the products to the exacting specifications," he added.

Tentec, which was founded in 1988, has grown to have an annual turnover of more than £10 milion and now employs 64.

Tentec has grown from a small company providing hydraulic bolts to the coal mining industry to a multi-million pound global organisation that supplies innovative bolt tightening solutions to a wide range of industries including petrochemical, renewable energy, offshore and nuclear.

The company now has a network of 40 distributors around the world and is winning increasing exports to China

It is bucking an industry trend that has seen more Chinese goods imported to the UK than exported. Following the appointment of a new distributor in China in 2012, Tentec now sees China as one of its most important export markets for its growing range of producst.
