Goold Estates secures 3,500 sq ft Oldbury office letting to overhead crane specialist

The move to Black Country House will enable the business to remain in the area and retain its established workforce

Property investment and development company Goold Estates has let two office suites to leading overhead crane and lifting solutions company Konecranes at Black Country House in Oldbury.

Sandwell-based Konecranes has taken Suites 1A and 7, totalling c.3,500 sq ft, on a 10-year lease.

The move to Black Country House will provide Konecranes with modern office accommodation to support its evolving customer service operation.

The new location will also enable the business to remain in the area and retain its established workforce, having been based in West Bromwich for more than 30 years.

Only one suite now remains available at Black Country House, with Suite 10 extending to c.1,167 sq ft.

Black Country House has a strong engineering heritage, having originally been the headquarters of Accles & Pollock, which became famous for the Mayfly, the world’s first all-metal aircraft.

The 36,252 sq ft office building was acquired by Goold Estates in 2008 and refurbished to provide modern, EPC A-rated accommodation.

The building has air conditioning, raised access flooring, suspended ceilings with LED lighting, a modern reception area, passenger lifts and CCTV. Externally, there are photovoltaic panels and secure gated car parking.

Lara Angell, at Goold Estates, said: “We’re pleased to re-let both suites to Konecranes shortly after securing vacant possession, following the surrender and expiry of the previous leases.

“This letting reflects the popularity of Black Country House, which continues to attract occupiers due to its high specification, excellent connectivity to the M5 and proximity to local amenities.”

James Smith, Midlands operations director at Konecranes, said: “We are all excited for the move to the new premises. The modern office space will help to support the development of our business in the West Midlands.

“We expect to be at Black Country House for many years to come.”

Goold Estates was represented by Max Shelley of Bulleys Chartered Surveyors, with Anthony Wiggins of WLT Commercial Property acting on behalf of Konecranes.
