Contractor McCrory expands Brickwork division into Midlands with £4m Wolverhampton contract
Family-owned construction and brickwork specialist McCrory has launched in the Midlands, starting work on a £4m package at Bicycle Works in Wolverhampton city centre.

The business began contract work on site for project partner Caddick Construction last month.
The appointment is the first Midlands project for the Brickwork division in many years and marks a significant step in its company growth plans. Previously, almost all of its work has been delivered across the North.
Bicycle Works is the first phase of Smithgate, Wolverhampton's largest regeneration scheme, which will deliver up to 1,000 new homes alongside public spaces, shops and amenities.
The first phase will provide approximately 331 apartments across three six-storey buildings, with completion expected in 2028.
The scheme is being brought forward by Muse, Legal & General and Homes England, working alongside Caddick.
McCrory's scope includes brickwork, insulation, cavity fire barriers, non-combustible cavity trays, a masonry support system, internal blockwork and secondary steelwork.
The business secured the package through a competitive tender, having worked with members of the wider project team before.
The project will create a number of job opportunities locally, with a mix of local labour being used, as well as apprentices and operatives travelling from the North West.
The move reflects a deliberate diversification strategy for McCrory, which is now tendering for work in Staffordshire, Birmingham and Leicestershire. Alongside geographical expansion, the ambitious contractor is also diversifying its sector focus across rail, defence, leisure and infrastructure.
Paul McCrory, founder of McCrory, said: "The Midlands is a clear growth region for us. The pipeline is strong across commercial development, civil and infrastructure, and defence too, so it was an obvious next step.
“Proving agility as pipelines and trends change is essential to futureproof operations as a contractor, particularly in volatile and uncertain markets. Our construction division has proven to offer exactly that, growing year on year, with the capacity to now deliver £18m to £20m of work annually across the UK.
“Winning our place on Bicycle Works, on a scheme of this scale and significance, is a fantastic way to start scaling up our efforts in the Midlands. We're grateful to Caddick for the opportunity, and we're looking forward to building on this and delivering exceptional work.”
The expansion follows a strong year of recognition for the group. McCrory Construction Group was named Fastest Growing Medium Business at the 2026 Ward Hadaway North West Fastest 50 Awards, recording average turnover growth of 122.81 per cent and turnover of £19.9m. McCrory Brickwork has also been shortlisted for Specialist Brickwork Contractor at the 2026 Brick Awards.
