Regional growth award for Smethwick firm
Smethwick's A&M EDM precision engineers has won an award from the EEF, the manufacturers' organisation.
It was presented with the business growth award in the Midlands region of the annual Future Manufacturing Awards.
The award was presented at a regional lunch at Staverton Park, Northampton, on November 7.
The national winners will be announced at the EEF national gala dinner on January 31 at the Grand Connaught Rooms, London.
Two of A&M EDM's apprentices were also finalists in the EEF Midlands apprentice awards.
A&M EDM, which makes precision components and tools for aerospace, automotive, defence, Formula 1 and general engineering customers, employs 58 staff.
The growth award is given in recognition of a company delivering dynamic business growth through a consistent growth strategy.
A&M EDM was up against stiff competition from a range of innovative businesses - small and large - from across the region. It was selected by a panel of judges drawn from business leaders, industry experts and academics after impressing them with good investment in equipment and people, and a very good apprentice development programme.
Mark Wingfield, managing director at A&M EDM, said: "A&M EDM is proud to win the EEF Business Growth award for the Midlands. This award is a direct result of the engineering skills and commitment of all our staff to produce outstanding customer service and grow the business. A&M look forward to representing the Midlands in the national awards."
Charlotte Horobin, Midlands and East region director at EEF, said: "Strategies that deliver productivity, efficiency and innovation are all part of a package that will lead to growth. Manufacturers are at the forefront of delivering these strategies and A&M EDM is a great example of what can be achieved.
"We wish them the best of luck in representing our region at the national finals."
Mr Wingfield, who received the business growth award, is a keen supporter of apprenticeships.
