Darren Parker murder: Unemployed man in court over West Bromwich stab killing

A man has been charged with the murder of Darren Parker, who was stabbed to death in West Bromwich.

Unemployed Demarco Martin, aged 19, from Campville Crescent, Stone Cross, appeared at Sandwell Magistrates Court this morning.

He is also faces a charge of attempted murder of Sean Varden, in his early 20s, who was also stabbed.

Martin spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address. He was remanded in custody and will next appear in Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday.

Mr Parker was pronounced dead at the scene in Campville Crescent at around 2pm on Wednesday.

He died of stab wounds to his chest.

A man aged 24 and a woman, 23, who were also arrested have been released and will face no further action.

Last night, a family statement said: "Darren was loved by everyone who knew him especially his family. He was always there for them and if anyone needed a helping hand he was there to help. Darren had been happily married to Anne his soulmate of eight and a half years.

"The family are devastated and are trying to come to terms with their loss, they would like to be left alone to deal with their grief."
