Staffordshire residents warned over unsafe fireworks sales
Staffordshire Trading Standards is urging residents to buy fireworks only from authorised retailers amid concerns about potentially unsafe products
People in Staffordshire are being urged to check where their fireworks come from as Trading Standards steps up safety checks ahead of Bonfire Night.

Officers are working with businesses across the county to ensure fireworks are stored and sold responsibly.
They are also warning against buying products advertised through social media marketplaces, pop-up stalls and private addresses, as these may be counterfeit, incorrectly labelled, illegally imported or fail to meet UK safety requirements.
Unsafe fireworks can cause serious injuries, fires and property damage, particularly if they have not undergone the necessary safety testing.
It is illegal to sell fireworks to anyone under the age of 18.
Anthony Screen, Staffordshire County Council's cabinet member for community safety and resilience, said: "Bonfire Night is enjoyed by thousands of people across Staffordshire every year, and we want everyone to celebrate safely.
"The safest way to buy fireworks is from a reputable retailer that is authorised to sell them. Buying fireworks from unofficial sellers, whether through social media sites or private sellers, can carry significant risks as you cannot be certain the products meet the required safety standards."
He also urged residents to consider neighbours, pets and other animals when planning celebrations, and to attend organised public events where possible.
Trading Standards officers will continue carrying out checks on businesses throughout the fireworks-selling period to ensure legal requirements are being met.
Anyone concerned about the sale of fireworks can contact Staffordshire Trading Standards through the council's Report It webpage or by calling 01785 330356.
