The play, by Katherine Senior, is inspired by the true stories of women who served with the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA), delivering aircraft to RAF airfields across the UK during the war.

It follows sisters Bett and Dotty, who leave their family farm to join the ATA, despite their father's disapproval.

The pair ferry aircraft including Spitfires, Hurricanes and bombers around the country, facing danger, sexism and loss along the way.

The story moves between the 1940s and New Year's Eve 1959, when Dotty visits Bett at the Spitfire Pub she runs. As they reflect on their wartime experiences, old wounds, lost loves and the legacy of their service are brought to the surface.

The production aims to shine a light on the contribution of the women who flew aircraft during the war and whose achievements were often overlooked.
