The monarch was portrayed by Jack Abbott in a performance written by John White, with the church providing a historic backdrop for the event.

Members of the Lions Club dressed as Henry’s six wives, joined by friends Karen and Gill, and Reverend Lynne, who also took part in the Tudor theme.

Club president Debra Coburn said: “This was a fabulous evening, and the setting of the church was perfect for King Henry VIII’s performance.

“We received great feedback from the audience, who particularly enjoyed having their own buffet box to enjoy during the evening.”
