MMR vaccination catch-up clinic in Wolverhampton for children and young people
Children and young people who have missed either one or both doses of their free MMR vaccination are invited to get it at a special catch-up clinic taking place over the Easter holidays.

Measles is an infectious disease which spreads very easily and can sometimes cause serious complications such as meningitis, pneumonia, blindness and seizures.
The best way to prevent measles infection is to have the MMR vaccination. Two doses provide long-term protection, along with protection against mumps and rubella.
Wolverhampton’s school-aged immunisations provider Vaccination UK is running a one-off catch-up clinic for children in school years 1-11 who have missed one or both doses of the MMR vaccine.
It will take place at WV Active Aldersley on Friday, April 10 between 9.30am and 1.30pm. Vaccinations are free and, to book an appointment, please call 01902 200077. Walk-in appointments are also available.
Councillor Obaida Ahmed, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community, said: “Measles cases have been increasing in England and internationally in recent years, at the same time as we have seen vaccination rates fall nationally. Lower uptake makes it easier for measles to spread, putting vulnerable groups at greater risk.
“Most recent cases in England have occurred in children under 10, with many outbreaks linked to nurseries and schools.
“We are encouraging parents and carers to ensure their children are fully vaccinated, and so if your child has missed one or both of their MMR doses, please bring them along to the clinic next month to get their free vaccination."
Anyone born before 31 December 2019 who has missed one or both doses of MMR can also get a catch-up vaccination for free via their GP.
