Didar Singh said: “People are delighted that Featherstone Post Office is open for banking Royal Mail and Parcelforce parcels and mail collect and return of parcels and bill payments. Also soon we will also have Western Union Money transfer.”

He said there are no banks or cash machines in the village and in the first hour of opening people had withdrawn £2,000 in cash highlighting the demand for access to cash and banking.

He said many elderly residents now have a more convenient Post Office without the need to travel to Shareshill or elsewhere for banking services.

Village Food & Wine Express Ltd underwent refurbishment to accommodate the Post Office including a reconfigured counter redecoration and a new portable ramp to improve accessibility.

The previous Featherstone Post Office at Cannock Road closed in March 2025 after the resignation of the postmaster.

The new branch is around 140 metres from the old site and offers roadside parking outside the premises.

Post Office Area Change Manager Kulwant Dosanjh said: “We know how important a Post Office is to a community and we are very pleased to have restored vital services to Featherstone.”

The new branch aims to provide accessible services for the community and restore essential facilities lost following the earlier closure in 2025.
