Led by two members of staff, Chris Bownes and Molly Turner, the team at Michael Page Recruitment in Brindley Place will help to raise awareness as well as vital funds to support the work of the MND Association – the largest MND charity in the UK. Chris and Molly are also preparing to take part in the Run Redditch Half Marathon on June 21 – Global MND Awareness Day.

Every day six people in the UK are diagnosed with MND, a devastating disease which damages the nerves which send messages to muscles. Within months, someone affected by MND can lose their voice and the ability to eat or even move. 5,000 people are living with the disease at any one time. There is no cure.

Chris said: “We chose to support the MND Association because the cause is personally meaningful to both of us. We have each witnessed the devastating effects of MND first‑hand, as well as the critical support and compassion the charity provides to people affected.

Molly and Chris look ahead to their challenge raising money for the MND Association.

“I experienced the loss of a close friend’s mother to MND, and Molly was introduced to the scale and impact of the illness when her sister ran to raise money for the charity in 2016. Those experiences made it clear how essential the MND Association’s work is, especially given how limited support can be without their involvement.

“Professionally, Michael Page works closely with the MND Association as a key recruitment partner, giving us direct insight into the organisation’s mission, values and the meaningful difference they make every day.”

The money raised will help to fund new research into potential new treatments for MND.

Community Relationship Fundraiser for the MND Association, Kelly Boston said: “We are incredibly grateful to Chris and Molly and the team at Michael Page Recruitment for supporting people with MND. It’s a partnership which really matters.

“Taking part in the Run Redditch Half Marathon on Global MND Awareness Day will be very special and will help to shine a light on our community. Every pound Chris and Molly raise, every mile along the way, will really make a difference to our work, funding the research which gives us all so much hope for the future.”
