Saturday, 7th March 2026, the Jimmy Walker Suite at Walsall FC became the heart of UK Bhangra Music as the community gathered for a historic tribute concert to Dalbir Khanpur. Organised by Nash Aujla and Gurcharan Khanpur, the event celebrated the six-decade career of the singer, lyricist, musician and one of the founding members of the legendary Bhujhangy Group. Formed in Smethwick in 1967, the group is credited with revolutionising the UK music landscape.

The evening, hosted by Manpreet Darroch, featured a star-studded line-up including Shin (DCS), Bhangra Smash Up, Nesdi Jones, Steven Sahota, Milan, Punjabi Dost,Desi Devas,Anjaana Group (Bradford), Bugga ( Roshney Group), Balvinder Bhatti, Manny Ramta, Roop Samrai and DJ Mixology Music.In a standout moment of the night, Parmjit Pammi who performed some of her hit songs on the stage, presented Gurcharan Khanpur with her first ever purchase an original 1971 copy of the band’s first EP—a record she had treasured for 55 years. The first EP was recorded at the Zella Recording Studios and Released and distributed by Star Agencies Birmingham UK.

The night saw the exclusive release of "Celebrate one of the Greats" by Bhangra Smash Up Records, featuring Apache Indian, Nicky B and Dalbir Khanpur. The track is a modern homage to Khanpur’s influence and is available now on all streaming platforms.
Public donated raffles raised £1,006.67 for Sanjhi Sewa, a local charity dedicated to tackling social isolation, this will help make a big difference in the community.

Live Tribute: A live tribute band formed from Scope Events and The Live Experience Band backed a marathon of hits, ranging from Khanpur’s 1971 debut “Fashion Bahada Janda” to his final works.
"Dalbir Khanpur’s music is the heartbeat of UK Bhangra," said the organisers. "To see this room filled with fans and legendary artists proves that while he may be gone, his music truly lives on."

Nash and Gurcharan, Events would like to thank everyone for the love and support in making this an amazing event, this was our second Dalbir Khanpur Bhujhangy tribute concert, the first one was 13 years and held at the Tower Ballroom, Birmingham.
