Stafford mayor attends topping-out ceremony at multimillion-pound new care home
The Care UK team at Hartwood on Cannock Road was joined by the Mayor of Stafford Councillor Jenny Barron for a special topping-out ceremony, with the home set to open this autumn.
After making her way up to the roof of the building, Cllr Barron laid the last tile to mark the external build as officially complete.
She was then given a tour of the site and spoke with the team about plans for the internal design and the future of Hartwood.
Cllr Barron said: “It was a pleasure to be asked to take part in the topping out ceremony at Stafford’s newest care home. I am sure it will be a great asset for the local community creating jobs and providing much needed quality care provision.”
Once complete, the multimillion-pound purpose-built care home will provide residential, dementia and respite care for up to 76 people, with facilities including a cinema, hair and beauty salon and pub.

Justin Daley, Development Project Manager at Care UK, said: “We’re thrilled to have reached this significant milestone in the construction of Hartwood.
“The topping-out ceremony is a proud moment for everyone involved and brings us one step closer to opening the doors to what will be a beautifully designed care home.
“We want to thank Mayor of Stafford Cllr Jenny Barron for coming along, and we can’t wait to give members of the community the grand tour once the home’s interior is complete!”
Midlands-based Deeley Construction is delivering the new home for Care UK.
Chris Newman, Operations Director at Deeley Construction, said: “This is a major milestone for the first development we have delivered in partnership with Care UK.
“We are firmly on track to complete work on the scheme in the summer and the progress on site is the result of great collaboration between Deeley Construction, Care UK, the project team and our design partners.
“This purpose-built home has been thoughtfully designed to support residents’ wellbeing and the development further strengthens our expertise in the care sector.”
