The donation from David Wilson Homes will be used to support the charity’s Care Centre, a drop-in for people who are homeless and marginalised in Birmingham. It provides warm meals, friendship, activities and practical support, helping people to find solutions to move on independently.

On top of the funding, David Wilson Homes also supported the charity’s ToyLink Project, collecting and gifting a range of brand-new toys for the children referred to Birmingham City Mission.

Hannah Noble, Fundraising Officer at Birmingham City Mission, said: “We can’t thank David Wilson Homes enough for its fabulous support, both in giving gifts to our ToyLink project and funding for our Care Centre, supporting homeless and marginalised people in Birmingham. It is a huge contribution to making it all happen.

“The Mission runs many projects throughout the city and offers support, comfort and help to homeless, elderly and young disadvantaged people and those living in poverty.”

Birmingham City Mission’s Care Centre opens from Monday to Thursday each week during the day. Over the past 12 months, it has received an average of 60 clients each day with varying needs, including those who attend for food, clothing, a chat and help with issues such as housing, benefits, relationships and health.

Hannah continued: “Our ToyLink is a massive project which runs each Christmas to support Birmingham families who are struggling to make ends meet. The project provides four gifts to each child referred to us through agencies such as social services, schools, hostels and children’s centres.

“It would not happen without hundreds of volunteers and thousands of donations of brand-new toys and gifts. At Christmas, 1,500 families in need - which is 3,500 children - were supported through the festive season.”

In its 60th anniversary year, it has a series of events planned, including a 60 Bridges Walk along the canals on Saturday, June 6 and an Annual Celebration on Saturday, October 17.

David Wilson Homes’ donation came from its Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Redrow Foundation, which is run by its parent company, Barratt Redrow. It is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK, to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.

The Barratt Redrow Foundation is celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2026. Since its launch, it has committed £20 million to charities and good causes, supported over 2,000 different charities, and is estimated to have directly impacted 100,000 young people each year.

Helen Lewis, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “We are proud of the support our colleagues have given Birmingham City Mission, including its ToyLink Project.

“The Mission has a range of fantastic initiatives planned for 2026 and we congratulate the charity on its 60th anniversary year.”
